Welcome to the Kimball Shop & Boutique. We are a department store and women’s clothing boutique located in the village of Northeast Harbor, a vibrant summer community on the coast of Maine. A family-owned Northeast Harbor institution for over 100 years, we continue to provide a unique shopping experience to the local and summer community as well as visitors throughout the year.
Continuing a tradition started by her aunt, Nancy Kimball Ho has been the owner since 1973. Nancy continues to be a daily presence in the shop, managing a small team that handles every aspect of the business, from managing stock to gift wrapping, shipping and organizing events.
We are a department store, but many people consider a visit to our store an adventure. We have a diverse selection of merchandise, offering the finest home furnishings and accessories, gifts, designer clothing, kitchenware, glassware and tabletop items curated from places near and far. You can always be assured of exceptional quality. Enjoy the personalized, professional attention that we have been providing to our customers from around the world since 1935.

Who We Are
Nancy Kimball Ho
Nancy Kimball Ho started The Kimball Shop in 1973 in partnership with her brother, becoming the sole owner in 1994. She is a graduate of Bradford College and the University of North Carolina. Prior work experience includes an advertising background with J. Walter Thompson and student placement at Columbia University in New York City. She is currently on the Boards of The Seacoast Mission, Economic Development Corp. of Mt. Desert, and the N.E. Harbor Medical Center. Travel is an important component of Nancy’s life and a welcome antidote to Maine winters. Her other passions are gardening, kayaking and enjoying Island life with her extended family.
Laurie E. Cote
Prior to joining the Kimball Shop staff in May 2011, Laurie attended Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Communications/Journalism. Laurie has worked at several newspapers in the state including the Sun Journal and Mainebiz and continued with a career in advertising until moving to Mount Desert Island. Originally from Lisbon, Maine, Laurie now resides in Northeast Harbor with her partner, one small dog and a trio of kitties. Living in such close proximity to Acadia National Park affords Laurie the opportunity to indulge in some of her favorite hobbies like hiking and kayaking. She also enjoys playing and hiking with her dog, watching classic movies, watching the birds, and genealogy.
Susy Del Cid Papadopoli
Susy came to the US eleven years ago. Born and raised in Panama City, Panama, she attended the University of Panama and graduated with a degree in Marketing and Advertising. Susy brings over 25 years of Marketing and Event Planning experience to the Kimball Shop and she has been a fantastic addition to our team. Susy is in involved in the local community and is an active member of the Bar Harbor Rotary Club. She lives on the island with her husband, fifteen year old daughter and their Corgi. Susy’s twenty year old daughter is attending the University of Maine in Orono. Susy loves to travel and explore new cultures, and when at home she enjoys cooking, yoga, meditation and spending time with her family.
Elizabeth Murrell Halpern
Elizabeth grew up in Northeast Harbor and was educated at Wheaton College and the University of New Hampshire. She later received her MA in Special Education from the University of Maine. After a 25 year career in education, Elizabeth has served our Kimball Shop Boutique community for over 20 years. Her first 5 years out of college were as a service manager at Lord and Taylor in New York City; thus the love of beautiful clothing and helping discerning clientele seemed natural to her. Her proudest accomplishment is having raised three kind, successful children who have in turn given her five fabulous grandchildren.
Originally hailing from the mid-west, Sue is another one of those College of the Atlantic alumnae who just couldn’t tear themselves away from this beautiful island. With a background in website design, Sue handles most of our advertising and website work in additional to acting as primary Bridal Registry Concierge. She is a member of the Mount Desert Chamber of Commerce and dedicated Neighborhood House volunteer. When not working with the fantastic customers at the shop, Sue enjoys a good book, a good beer, and canoeing the small ponds of Maine with her husband and dog.
We are also supported by a wonderful back office and seasonal staff.
